NOC Plans Roadmap For Olympic Games

In a bid to ensure adequate funding and preparation of Team Nigeria for the Olympic Games, the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, is planning to come out with a roadmap that will guide the country’s participation in the world championship.

President of the NOC, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, told  Sportsweight.blogspot.com, that the committee would soon come up with a roadmap in conjuction with the National Sports Commission, NSC, and the National Assembly on how best to prepare for the Olympics, stressing that Nigeria needs to emulate other serious minded nations that have been training their athletes for Brazil 2016 Olympic Games.

Ndanusa,  the former Minister of Sports, said that the NOC is planning to have an orchestrated budget ahead of every Olympic year to forestall a situation where lack of funds will hinder the preparation of Team Nigeria for the world tourney.

The President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, noted that it was disheartening that the committee’s budget for the London 2012 Olympic Games was not included in this year’s budget of the Ministry of Sports.

He said that the plan of the NOC after the London 2012 Olympics is to propose a strategic budget planning that would see Olympic budget of Team Nigeria reflecting in the nation’s yearly budget, as this would enhance early preparations ahead of every Olympic Games.

Ndanusa revealed that Nigerian contingent to the 2012 Olympic Games would arrive London 40 days to the commencement of the Games. He aslo warned that the committee would dealt with any athlete who engage in any form of doping ahead of the Games.

According to him, the NOC would organise series of seminars, workshops for its coaches, while the athletes would be exposed to internationally approved courses.
