U-23 Eagles Arrive Nigeria Tuesday

Players and officials of the Nigeria’s Under 23 Eagles will arrive the country in the early hours of Tuesday, after a disappointing outing at the ongoing CAF Under 23 championship, in Morocco.

The Olympic Eagles finished third in Group A following defeats to hosts, Morocco and Senegal.

Despite an impressive outing against Algeria in their last group game, which the Nigerian team won 4-1, the Eagles crashed out, failing to progress to the semi final stage of the tournament, and losing a bid to secure a ticket to play in the football event of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The ouster of the Olympic Eagles saw Chief Coach of the side, Austin Eguavoen, calling it quit. This embarrassing outing complete a disappointing year for Nigeria where its national team, the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, while the female national team, the Super Falcons were unsuccessful in their Olympic games qualifying series.

P.M.Sports gathered that Eguavoen and his boys will depart Casablanca at midnight to arrive Lagos by 5am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, captain Obiora Nwankwo, Uchechi Daniel and Babatunde Micheal have returned to their clubs in Europe.
