Following a rumour that the Kazeem Olatunbosun (Boe)-led executive of the Video Rental Operators Association of Nigeria (VROAN) has been dissolved, popular actor and member of the association’s board of trustees, Prince Jide Kosoko, says he is not aware of the development.
Speaking with NollywoodReel on phone, Kosoko said he was surprised to read the report because he was not aware of the appointment of another caretaker committee for the association. “I was surprised to read it as well because I’m not aware of it. I don’t know where that came from.â€
Also speaking with NollywoodReel on phone, the association’s BOT Secretary, Femi Jolayemi, denied making any official statement as regards the appointment of a new caretaker committee.
According to him, “I don’t know where the report came from because I didn’t make any official statement or talk to anybody about that. So I was extremely disappointed how the writer of the report quoted me extensively, and out of context too.â€
In a swift reaction, Boe reiterated that he still remains the governor of the association in Lagos, thereby urging members of the public to ignore any rumour claiming otherwise.
“Though I initially tendered my resignation letter, it was rejected by the chairman who claimed that I’m the best man for the job and should continue. That has, however, been resolved and I have official documents to back it up. I still remain the governor, so there is no iota of truth in the report that a new caretaker committee has been appointed. Besides, a member of the purported caretaker committee, Yusuf Ekundayo, has been suspended for about three years now,†Boe said.
He added that: “I have not over-stayed in office as being rumoured because I have just spent three years and few months in office.â€
Efforts to reach the association’s BOT Chairman, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello) as at the time of filing this report was abortive. A lady that picked his call yesterday claimed that he was busy shooting a film.
