The much-awaited FM radio station aimed at enhancing effective flow of information dissemination within and outside the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi and its environs, has been officially commissioned.
The radio station with the Frequency Modulation 94.1, was commissioned by the Rector of the institution, Dr. (Mrs.) Philipa Idogho, alongside top dignitaries among which were deans of schools, heads of departments and lecturers in Mass Communication Department.

At the commissioning, the rector charged workers of the radio station to be committed to their duty and avoid throwing the ethics of journalism to the winds, admitting the fact that journalists are the backbone for nation building and are also the bridge between government and the public.
According to the rector, the official commissioning of the radio station was borne out of the desire to propagate mutual understanding between the institution and the public, saying radio is the fastest and cheapest means of communication with people at the grassroots without much interference.
Idogho also commended the impressive effort of the Dean of School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Francis Chete and Head of Department (HOD), Mass Communication, Mr. Abraham Obaze, for grooming up students in a captivating manner to represent the interest of the school and that of the nation.
It was gathered that the Hill Side FM station has a clear signal up to some areas in the Northern part of the country including Kebbi State. Other areas are Benin, Asaba, Akoko, Ekpeshi, Igarra, Okpella and Okene.
President of the Association of Mass communication Students (AMCOS), Comrade Jolly Aiwekhoe, commended the rector for sacrificing her time to see the school move forward.
Meanwhile, students of the institution have continued to congratulate the management team for the great achievement in putting back the radio station into use, a task, which has been difficult for some past administrations to accomplish.
They also urged the team to ensure it creates an enabling platform for students, especially those in the Mass Communication Department, to anchor some programmes to showcase the style and beauty of what they are being taught in class.
