Members of the Anikulapo-Kuti family led by Yeni, friends and fans of Femi Anikulapo-Kuti are currently planning to honour the Afrobeat singer for bagging a Grammy nomination for the third time.
P.M.Entertainment learnt that Yeni and others are planning to roll out the drums on 18 December, 2011, to welcome Femi, who will be returning to Nigeria after a playing tour of France.
It was gathered that a committee has been set up to coordinate the party and print customised T-shirts that will be adorned by friends, family members and fans of the Afrobeat king, who will be at the Muritala Muhammed Intertnational Airport to welcome him.
Speaking with P.M. Entertainment at the New Afrika Shrine, recently Yeni said “I am very elated that Femi is being nominated for the third time, but my prayer is for him to win this time around, at least, it will be on record that he will be the first Nigerian to win a Grammy. In fact, for him to have bagged three nominations is already a feat that is yet to be achieved by any musician in the country.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Femi’s welcome party, the Shrine manager, Sunday and two other members of staff, celebrated their birthday during which they used the opportunity to pay tribute to the Afrobeat king by holding a four-in one celebration.
