FIBA-Africa Women Tourney: Angola Rules Africa Again

Interclube of Angola made good their supremacy over other teams in Africa as they once again emerged champions of the FIBA- Africa Club Championship for Women. The Angolan ladies  beat former champions, First Bank of Nigeria on Saturday in the final of the 17th FIBA-Africa Club Championship to retain the title they won last year.

The final, played inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos ended 81-55 points in favour of the Angolan side, while First Deepwater of Nigeria saw off the challenge of another Angolan team, Maculosso to finish as the third placed team.

Meanwhile, Danielle Green of Interclube won the Most Valuable Player, MVP award of the tourney for third time consecutively. Kenyan Port Authority, KPA, who finished fifth, were consoled with a Fair Play award.

First Deepwatet of Lagos hosted the weeklong basketball tournament.
