Former Green Eagles’ captain and ex-Super Eagles’ coach, Christian Chukwu, has charged the new Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi, to ensure that best players from the local league are assembled as he prepares to open camp for the home based Eagles ahead of the 2013 Nation’s Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Chukwu, who is a member of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, said Keshi has enough time to assess the players and ensure that they develop a sense of belonging as players of the senior national team.

“Keshi and other members of the technical crew should assemble the best legs in our local league. There is time to do that now. They should try to give these boys a sense of belonging in our senior national team,” he said.

Chukwu noted that it would be a great task for the crew to train, motivate and encourage the local players.

“This is a real coaching assignment. I think it would help Keshi to nurture these players and exposed them to international games. We can’t just rely on foreign-based players all the time,” he said.

He, however, reiterated his confidence in Keshi to bring back the glorious days of the Eagles.
