Athletics: Ogba Laments Poor Funding Of AFN
President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Solomon Ogba, has lamented the poor funding of the federation by the National Sports Commission, NSC, saying it would undermine the development of the field and track events in the country.
He said his federation has been making the nation’s proud in the recent year without the financial support of the NSC, claiming that the AFN only received fund approval but has not received money from the commission.
He said: “It’s devastating qualifying for major championship without the financial support of the government.
There was no fund during the qualifiers for the London Olympics, but the federation still went ahead to pick tickets for the nation.”
