Nigerian Sets Up Old Peoples’ Home

In her quest to join hands in contributing meaningfully to the nation’s growth, an American-based professional who just returned has set up a nursing home, Collington Care in Wemabod Estate, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos state, southwest Nigeria with a view to investing in the country and ensure better living standard for the average Nigerian, particularly the elderly.

Mrs. Labake Adegbesan, who relocated to the USA in 2004 has now returned to Nigeria with a strong passion to better the lot of the elderly and physically challenged. After having disengaged from the services of the Washington Post in the USA,  Adegbesan felt a strong need to exercise her love for the elderly when she joined Summerford Place, a home for senior citizens in America.

There, she took over the management of the home for two years until her return to Nigeria.

Upon arrival, the soft-spoken and workaholic and  mother took the bull by the horn when she ventured into what could best be described as a strange terrain. First, all seemed bleak but with the invaluable support and contribution of her husband, Mr. Adegbesan, the couple was faced with the herculeen tast of acquiring a property in a very safe and comfortable environment in popular WEMABOD Estate, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, where they instituted a nursing home, Collington Care.

According to Mrs Adegbesan, the setting up of the home is an idea from the United States, “it’s a passion made real. It’s been in me to show love and care for the elderly. This is a dream come true and that is why myself and my husband have ensured that the home is well-equipped with hi-tech gadgets and qualfied personnel that will make every client live  a longer and healthy life.”

Not only is the home meant to cater for the elderly, it has also been designed to cater for the needs of the physically challenged and patients who are just recuperating from any sort of illness.

“We understand the demanding and tasking nature of our working class professionals here in Nigeria, and as such, they have little or no time to look after their aged parents.

“This is a one-stop home where they are sure of intesive care in a highly-friendly environment that will make them live hapily and longer in a good health.

Mrs. Adegbesan who’s breaking new grounds in this new hospitality business had her education in Canada and USA. After her graduation, she started her working career with Tina George industries.
