Nigeria Can Win Beach Soccer World Cup—Abu
A Nigerian beach soccer player, Azeez Abu, has said that Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have the ability to win the beach soccer world cup in the near future.
The Nigerian player made the declaration yesterday in a chat with P.M. Sports as Nigeria thrashed the former world champions, Brazil 9-4 to win 2011 Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championship held at the Eko Atlantic City Bar Beach, Lagos.
“I believe Nigeria can go all out to win the world cup if we continue to work hard and not distracted. We have shown that we are capable of winning the world cup by defeating Brazil I believe we can shock the world by winning the world cup,†said Abu.
Abu, who scored five goals against the Brazilian side, said that Nigeria did not win the competition on a platter of gold but worked very hard in order to break the jinx of losing to the South American team every time Nigeria played against them.
“It is hard work that made us champions in this competition. We worked very hard right from the time we were camped in Badagry. Brazil gave a good account of themselves but our determination gave us a well-earned victory,†added Abu.
Asked how he felt scoring five goals against Brazil, the goal poacher said: “I feel very happy with my performance against Brazil because this is first time I will score five goals in a match. Achieving that feat against a team like Brazil definitely calls for celebration.â€
