Managers Football Club of Isolo gave a good account of themselves as they outplayed all their opponents to win Aketi Cup.
The one-day football fiesta took place recently at Ojo Oniyun playground, Apapa Road, Ebute Metta.
The tourney was put together by De-Reliables Sports Club to celebrate the late Paul Ifeanyi Chukwu Aketi who worked courageously for the club during his lifetime.
Managers defeated Mainland All Stars 1-0 in their opening match and humbled De-Reliables FC 5-4 on a penalty shootout after a barren draw at the regulation time in the final match.
Speaking after the match, Chief Coach of Managers, Roland Ejiogu, expressed gratitude to God for the success the team recorded in the tournament.
He commended his team for their doggedness and determination throughout their matches.
“It was a good outing for us. Our objective is to emerge the winner of this tourney. We are going to celebrate the victory till New Year,†he said.
Ejiogu advised the organisers to improve on the area of officiating and organization in the next edition.
