2 Steal N5m Jewellery

Two persons, Olafimihan Adigun, 26, and Babatunde Sodiya, 24, on Friday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing their employer’s jewellery valued at N5 million.

The accused are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary.

The Prosecutor, ASP. Goddy Omenogor, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on December 7, at Lekki Phase One, Lekki, Lagos.

Omenogor said that the duo were employed as maintenance staff at the Estate to take care of repairs.

He said that they used the opportunity to break into the house of one Mrs. Moronke Williams and stole her expensive jewellery worth N5 million.

He said that the alleged offence contravened Sections 285 (5), 307 (1) and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O. O. Martins granted each of them bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till 16 January 2012, for further hearing.
