Boxing Day Battle: Lagos Boxers To Fight For Governor’s Belt
All hands are on deck as boxers get set for the 26th Monthly Saturday Boxing Show and the 3rd Governor’s Belt billed to hold on Boxing Day, Monday, 26 December at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Lagos, Nigeria.
The show, packaged by the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, LBHF, in conjunction with the Lagos Amateur Boxing Association, LABA, will be graced by the governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fasola, who will present the 2011 Governor’s Belt to the best boxer in the tournament.
In this special edition, Sikiru Fatai, will trade punches with Kazeem Oliwo in the 56kg category while Rilwan Oladosu will slug it out with Joseph Otto in the 60kg category. Gabriel Francis will stand toe to toe with Azeez Olumegbon in the 81kg category while Muri Shango will try to outpunch Segun Ibrahim in the 75kg category.
The duo of Taiwo Agbaje and Ibrahim Ali will put their boxing skills to test in the 52kg category while Taiwo Oyegunwa and Olaide Fijabi will trade punches in the 64kg category.
In the female events, Mutiat Adebayo will slug it out with Elizabeth Osoja in the 51kg category while national champion, Kate Peter, will renew her rivalry with Mariam Adedun in the 60kg category.
Babatunde Shokunbi and Shina Adeniji will stand toe to toe in the only exhibition bout of the event.
