Edna Smith Cup Final Holds ‘Morrow
The final of the 2nd Edna Smith Soccer Championship will hold at the Joju Playground, Sango Ota, Ogun State tomorrow by 2p.m.
The final match will be played between Edna Smith Football Club of Sango and Union Football Club of Ota. To get to the final, Edna Smith defeated West K 1-0, while Union beat MSI 6-5 on penalties in the semi final matches played last weekend.
Chairman of the organising committee of the grassroots soccer competition, Mrs. Olapeju Adeitan, told P.M.Sports that preparations are in top gear to stage a glamorous final on Christmas Eve by 2p.m.
“One of the major attractions of the final ceremony is the sports soul winning by the West African Christian Mission led by Daddy Smith from Illinois, USA. Daddy Smith is an American born missionary,†said Mrs. Adeitan.
She, however, disclosed that winners of the competition would be handsomely rewarded.
“We are planning to give the winners a set of jerseys and money. The second place team will go home with training kits. Our association is affiliated to Ambassador in Sport,†she said.
The organisers have the support of the International Sport Association, Nigeria chapter and the West Africa Christian Mission. They are giving them the technical support.
Sponsorship came from Bigger Engineering Services, Ibukun Olu Motors and Oasis Educational Services.
