Handball: Swedish Trainers For Nigerian Coaches
In a bid to ensure Nigerian handball coaches are equipped with the latest coaching techniques and tactics, Nigerian Handball Federation, NHF, have reached an agreement with its Swedish counterparts that will facilitate professional handball trainers from Sweden to come and train local coaches in the country.
Disclosing this was the president of the NHF, Mallam Yusuf Dauda.
Dauda said the arrangement became necessary due to the fact that for over a decade the federation has not been able to organise or send Nigerian handball coaches for refresher courses in order to update their knowledge of the game.
He disclosed that more than 30 handball coaches across the country are expected to undergo the training under the auspices of the federation.
“The training will cover game formation, tactics, as well as the responsibilities of coaches and responsibilities to the development of youth players and other relevant techniques,†he said
Dauda said the federation are determined and committed to give the game a face lift by continuing to train and re train coaches in the country.
P.M.Sports gathered that the arrival date of the Swedish trainers and venue of the training are not yet fixed but there are reports that the event is likely to hold in Abuja early next year.
