A man, Ndubisi Okoro, 35 who allegedly bathed his wife, Anthonia, with acid has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos charged with attempted murder.
The police prosecutor alleged that Okoro, acting on suspicion of infidelity, attacked his wife, tore her clothes and poured acid on her at their residence, 28, Adeponle Street, Amukoko, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
Though Anthonia did not die, she sustained serious injuries and her body was burnt.
Okoro was arrested and interrogated by the police after the attack and arraigned in court.
Part of the charge reads, “that you, Ndubisi Okoro, 35, on the same place date and time with intent to kill Anthonia Okoro poured a liquid substance suspected to be raw acid on her.â€
When the charge was read to Okoro, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Shonubi admitted him on bail and adjourned the matter for mentioning.
