Man Held Over Death Of Security Guard

Policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command say they have arrested a trader for allegedly killing a security guard in Lagos.

The suspect, Victor Agwu, 34, was arrested on 12 December, at Okokomaiko, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway where he was hiding.

SARS operatives claimed that he was a member of the gang who killed a security guard at Igando in an abortive attempt to rob occupants of a flat.

P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that the suspect and other members of the gang at midnight made an attempt to rob occupants of a flat at Okokomaiko.

They allegedly shot the night guard who challenged them. The shooting attracted other tenants on the street and a distress signal was sent to the police. The suspects escaped.

Nemesis caught up with Agwu when police received a tip off that he was hiding in a hemp joint at Okokomaiko. SARS operatives stormed the joint and arrested him.

He allegedly confessed to taking part in the robbery where the night guard was killed.

In his confession to the police, the suspect allegedly disclosed that he became a member of the gang when two of his friends, nicknamed Agege and Papillo introduced him to it.

“I was invited by my two friends for alleged business. I got there and they said we should climb a fence to get into a flat. The night guard saw us and suddenly, I heard a gun shot. I was not the one who shot the night guard. But the police said I was the one who shot the guard dead,” he disclosed in his statement to the police.

Sources at SARS said they have launched a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang and that the suspect would be arraigned in court at the completion of investigation.
