Nigeria: Robbers Kill Two, Steal N8m

A gang of robbers struck today at Paddyman Nigeria Limited, a liquor company at 3 0joto street, Mile 2, Port Harcourt, carting away N8 million.

The robbers shot and killed two traffic wardens of the Rivers State Transport Management Authority, TIMARIV, before escaping with their loot.

Eyewitnesses told P.M.NEWS that the robbers had shot and killed a male and female TIMARIV officials at Agudama Street, D-Line, while stray bullets fired by the robbers earlier hit a male bystander at Okija Street.

The robbers, according to sources, operated in a Volkswagen Passat car, painted in ash colour. They arrived at the company and started shooting into the air to scare workers before breaking into the strong room of the company with a sledge hammer and carted away about N8 million.

A statement from the Rivers State Police Command signed by Mr. Benjamin Ugwuegbulem, confirmed the incident, stating that some of the customers at the scene were also robbed of their valuables.

Azikiwe Police Station Patrol team engaged the robbers in a gun duel and a police Corporal sustained bullet wound. The gangsters managed to escape eventually.
