TNL Closes Year With A Hat-Trick

Toyota Nigeria Limited, at the close of the 2011 calendar year, proved its supremacy in Nigeria when it dominated the Nigerian Auto Journalist Awards (NAJA) held at the Sheraton Hotels Lagos.

Toyota picked three awards at the event, the highest by any company at the annual award by Nigerian Auto Journalists. Toyota Corolla won the Prestigious Car of the Year Award, while Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was crowned the Sports Utility Vehicle of the Year.

The best after sales network of the Year also went to Toyota Nigeria Limited. Toyotaâ€s eight accredited dealers with at least more than three outlets in different parts of the country each helped the company to grab the award.

The 2011 Toyota Corolla, (COTY winner) which features new front and rear exterior styling and new interior design changes have sold more than 30 million units since 1966.

Recall that the company maintained its successive years in the top spot ranking by leading other local dealership chart by posting about 14,500 sales out of the estimated 45,000 units that came into the country under the period in 2010. Even as import statistics grow by 45% share, Toyota Nigeria Limited is still the industry leader with 14,237 units, Hyundai 8018, Kia 5598, Ford 2282, Mitsubishi 1708, Nissan 1660, Honda 1316, Volkswagen 1188, Sinotruck 1148, Peugeot 1116 and Tata 997 units.

Analysts say the leap in new car imports is an indication of a growing middle class, improved standard of living, higher disposable income and renewed hope of credit financing regimes by some banks and other financial institutions triggered by the post-consolidation and increased efficiency at the ports, especially in the past five years.
