Young Muslims Slam U.S, U.K On Same Sex Bill

A call has gone to the Federal Government to ignore attempts by the United States and Britain to force it to rescind its legislation criminalising same-sex marriage in the country.

This call was made by the Zone B Coordinator of the Young Muslim Brothers and Sisters (YOUMBAS), Alhaji Muhammed Bashir Oyewale, during a special prayer/award ceremony organised by the organisation in Lagos.

Oyewale said the Federal Government should not be swayed by the threat by the two countries to withhold aids, saying same-sex marriage is repugnant in the sight of Allah.

Delivering a lecture entitled: ‘Challenges of Muslim Organisation in Nigeria: The Way Forward,’ an Islamic scholar, Alhaji Muhammed Tajudeen Taiwo Adisa, charged Islamic organisations to invest in education (Islamic and Western) and spiritual development in order to curb social problems.

He also charged wealthy Muslims to spend their wealth in the cause of the religion.The programme also witnessed presentation of awards.

Awardees at the event include the Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Muslim Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (MUTAN), Alhaji Tiamiyu Bakare, Alhaji Mustapha Adeogun Olaoluwa, Prince Tiamiyu Mutahir Abimbola, Alhaji Suleimon Alabi Yusuf, Mr. Nojimdeen Adisa Oyadiran, Alhaji Nuraeni Lawal, Alhaji Abdu Rafiu Owolabi, Alhaji J.O. Ogunsanya and Alhaja Fatimo Monayajo.
