Team Manager of Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Tajudeen Disu, has assured that the team would be regenerated to gain promotion to the Nigerian Premier League, NPL, in the next two seasons.
Disu disclosed that some of the club’s players would be placed on transfer market to pave way for the recruitment of credible and experience players to actualise the management’s desire to return to the premier league.
The former Abiola Babes star explained that the state’s governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has promised to make available funds to run the club professionally.
He said the club’s management would ensure that players’ allowances are paid as at when due, adding that failure of most premier league clubs to pay their players’ allowances always lead to series of crisis in the Nigerian League.
He believes that most Nigerian football players would have stay in the local league but lack of adequate welfare package for the players always propel them to seek greener pastures in abroad.
