President Jonathan visits Bombed Church

Nigeria’s leader, President Goodluck Jonathan has visited St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla in Niger State, where a big bomb on Xmas Day killed 43 worshippers, including passersby. The Islamic insurgent group, Boko Haram claimed responsibility, promising to attack more church targets.
The President’s visit came a week after the tragedy,and nationwide condemnations of the attack, and fears of Christian reprisal.He was accompanied by the Governor of the state, Aliyu Babangida and the National Security Adviser, Owoye Azazi.
Jonathan has held consultations with security organizations and helmsmen and leaders of Nigeria’s two main religions. He said today at Madalla that he would speak to the nation on the bombings.
