BUK Students Join Protest

Students of Bayero University, BUK, Kano today gathered at the Silver Jubilee roundabout to protest the removal of subsidy on petrol by the federal government.

Over 20,000 youths and students carrying placards, gathered at the roundabout, chanting anti-Jonathan songs.

The protest was peaceful. No incident of violence was recorded as at the time of filing this report.

The junction which connects many major roads in and out of Kano was barricaded. There was also a huge security presence.

Economic activities are still going on but the prices of goods and services have recorded an astronomical increase.

Around the city of Kano, policemen and soldiers were seen at strategic locations keeping watch over important facilities.

P.M.NEWS learnt that in the last 48 hours, there had been about three emergency security meetings by top security operatives and government functionaries.
