Light Traffic In Lagos

Following the multiplier effect of removal of fuel subsidy on the Nigerian populace there is light traffic on some Lagos roads.

Investigations revealed that the traffic situation is due to the heavy cost of buying fuel and the inability of travellers to return home after the Christmas and New Year festivities due to cost of transportation.

P.M.NEWS learnt that travellers who are stranded especially those that traveled to the western and eastern parts of the country have started calling their siblings and family friends to send money through the banks to enable them return to Lagos.

Investigations further revealed that there is light or no traffic on some parts of Lagos State with heavy traffic.

There is light traffic on third Mainland Bridge, Ikorodu road, Ikeja, Iyana Ipaja, Sango Otta, Fagba, Abule Egba and other areas that witnessed heavy traffic in the past.

Apart from transportation the removal of subsidy is also having a multiplier effect on transportation, goods and services as their prices have hit the roof. For instance, transport fares has gone up by more than 100% sachet water formerly sold for N5 is now N10, pepper formerly sold at N50 per measure now goes for N100 per measure.
