Bauchi Police Parade 12 Suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command on Wednesday paraded 12 suspected armed robbers arrested in different parts of the state during the Yuletide period.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mohammed Barau, said the suspects were arrested for being allegedly found in possession of dangerous weapons as well as in connection with armed robbery and car snatching cases.

He said nine of them were members of Sara-Suka gang (cut and stab groups), who were arrested in possession of dangerous weapons.

Barau said two of the suspects, Idris Abubakar and Emmanuel Bello, were arrested with stolen vehicles, adding that Abubakar had confessed that he snatched a black pilot jeep from the owner on Kano Road at gunpoint.

He said Bello had also confessed that he stole a Honda Accord car from the First Bank branch, Bauchi, while one of the suspects, Daniel, confessed that he specialises in snatching and disposing of stolen cars.

The PPRO said one of the remaining two suspects belongs to an 11-member group of car snatchers and was arrested on the Bauchi-Jos Road with master keys.

He said the suspect had confessed to snatching several cars from their owners, while the other suspect confessed that he specialises in the fabrication of keys.

Barau said the command was making effort to arrest other suspects who were currently at large.

He said that all the suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
