Hello, There's A New Lada

pmnews-placeholder

Assuming that there are any Lada fans out there, this is rather big news – considering how seldom the Russian brand actually launches new products. Well, this is Lada’s new sedan – the Granta. It’s a rather nondescript-looking four-door with a big, square boot that looks roomy enough to hide a good few cases of drinks.

At the very cutting edge of technology (if we pretend it’s 1982) is the Granta’s eight-valve 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers a bit of power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Based on the Corsa-sized Lada Kalina hatch, the Granta is also affordably priced on the Russian market.

And standard it is – it doesn’t even have power steering. It does, however, (probably) have a steering wheel, four skinny steel wheels, seats and that aforementioned engine. We’re not sure whether Lada will ever come back to Nigeria, but given that we seem to have become such a dumping ground in recent years – it wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
