Hello, There's A New Lada

Assuming that there are any Lada fans out there, this is rather big news – considering how seldom the Russian brand actually launches new products. Well, this is Ladaâ€s new sedan – the Granta. Itâ€s a rather nondescript-looking four-door with a big, square boot that looks roomy enough to hide a good few cases of drinks.

At the very cutting edge of technology (if we pretend itâ€s 1982) is the Grantaâ€s eight-valve 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers a bit of power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Based on the Corsa-sized Lada Kalina hatch, the Granta is also affordably priced on the Russian market.

And standard it is – it doesnâ€t even have power steering. It does, however, (probably) have a steering wheel, four skinny steel wheels, seats and that aforementioned engine. Weâ€re not sure whether Lada will ever come back to Nigeria, but given that we seem to have become such a dumping ground in recent years – it wouldnâ€t be much of a surprise.
