London Olympics: Obajinmi Wants Early Preparation

Former Nigerian international and board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Gloria Obajinmi, has called on the National Sports Commission, NSC, to ensure that Team Nigeria have early and adequate preparation for the London Olympics.

Obajinmi said it is necessary for the NSC and other stakeholder to ensure that good logistics are put in place for Team Nigeria’s preparation for the London Olympic, adding that it would help the athletes focus on the games.

“There is need for the NSC and other stakeholders to ensure that Team Nigeria does not face logistics’ problem in camp. Training allowances must be paid as at when due for the athletes. Payment of the national coaches must be made on time to encourage athletes to remain focused,” she said.

Obajinmi also advised the NSC to engage sports psychologists for the Nigerian athletes in their camp, saying the athletes need someone to lift their morale while preparing to make the nation’s proud.

She applauded the decision of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, to feature in selected games at the London Olympic. She added that the decision would help the nation focus on the games.

Obajinmi is optimistic on the nation’s chances of putting up sterling performances in the games.
