A woman boxer, Loveth Patra, has disclosed that hard work and self-belief gave her victory over the national champion, Kate Peter.

Patra stated this in a chat with P.M. Sports after her keenly-contested bout with the Garden City Games gold medalist at the 3rd Governor’s Belt and the 26th edition of the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Lagos.

“It was hard work and self-belief that gave me victory today. I was frightened at first when I was told I would fight Kate. But I was able to beat her despite her intimidating record because I believed in myself,” said Patra.

The new champion said that her coach, Samsondeen Balogun, also contributed to her victory through his words of encouragement.

“My coach always told me to be focused and determined. He told me during training that I could always get what I want if I worked very hard at it. I just won a trophy today because I followed his advice,” added Patra.

She said further that her coach subjected her to rigorous training sessions in the build up to the bout.

“ We worked every day and night while preparing for the fight. And I feel great about the outcome of the bout,” said Patra.
