‘Involve Professionals In Civil Service Transformation’
The Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Rasaq Balogun, has called on the Office of Transformation to involve professionals from the Civil Service for the success of the service in the State.
Balogun, who gave the advice in his office during a committee meeting, insisted that there is need for the Office of Transformation to make use of the state government trained professionals in its activities.
He said the government had invested in them and it is just wise to take advantage of their intelligence.
“Why do you train them? All you have to do is to give them incentives to boost their morale,” he added.
He reiterated that issues like lateness to work and staff attitude to posting should be dealt with quickly.
Meanwhile, the Office of Transformation has been directed to bring a position paper on its Office and the Management Services for the purpose of clarity to avoid duplication in the just passed 2012 budget.
In his response, the Director-General, Mr. Toba Ogunsanya, explained that in-house professionals had already been selected.
He said: “We already have six in-house professionals but where we have gaps, we then have to get some professionals externally.”
Concerning the incentive to boost staff morale and rejection of posting, he promised that his office will do something about it urgently.
He claimed that he is facing a serious challenge on those issues and further explained that his office can only succeed on them if the staff could be discouraged from using their relationship with senior officials of the government.
The Office of Transformation was created in November 2009 and did not take-off until May 2010 with the amalgamation of the Management Service Reform and Project Inspection Monitoring Unit.
