As the nationwide strike enters Day 4 today, labour leaders are set to meet President Goodluck Jonathan this evening in Abuja.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, who disclosed this in Abuja this afternoon shortly after a meeting of labour leaders with the leadership of the Senate, expressed optimism that the meeting with President Jonathan would resolve the issue.

Omar, who spoke with reporters, described the meeting with the Senate leadership as impressive and encouraging.

He disclosed that organised labour insisted that the price of petrol should be reverted to N65 per litre, adding that the senate leadership showed understanding.

Meanwhile, protests against fuel subsidy removal continued nationwide with residents of Kaduna State defying the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state by coming out enmasse to protest.

Many commentators on national television have also advised President Jonathan to reverse the price of petrol to its previous price, N65 per litre, and save Nigerians from being killed by law enforcement agents.
