Okada Passenger Dies, 3 Others Injured In Accident

One person was killed and three others injured on Wednesday in a motor accident that occurred at the Ahmadiyya Bus-Stop, Ojokoro, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The Divisional Police Officer in-charge of the Ojokoro Division, Mr. Muritala Raji, a Superintendent, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said it involved a commercial bus and a commercial motorcyclist who was carrying two passengers.

According to Raji, eye witnesses who were at the accident scene, explained that the commercial bus was driving against traffic when the accident occurred.

He said while one of the Okada passengers died on the spot, the other passenger, the Okada rider and a pedestrian, who was hit, were rushed to the nearby Ahmadiyya Hospital.

The DPO said the driver of the bus escaped, while his bus had been taken to the Ojokoro Police Station.

Meanwhile, as the fuel subsidy strike entered its third day on Wednesday, the Lagos State Chapter of the Red Cross Society, said that it had treated 10 people for various injuries, while three others were taken to hospitals.

According to the society’s Programmes Officer, Mr. David Umoh, two were treated on Monday for gunshot wounds at Ogba, another two were treated for minor injuries on Tuesday, while six were treated on Wednesday for minor injuries.

He added that one person, who was stabbed by unknown persons, was taken to the Gbagada General Hospital on Wednesday.
