We’ll Give Foreign-Based Eagles A Good Fight — Agbim
Goalkeeper of the home-based Super Eagles in yesterday’s international friendly tie against Angola, Chigozie Agbim, is of the opinion that the local players will give their foreign based counterparts a good fight in their bid to play for Nigeria in the 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda next month.

Agbim, who captained the local Eagles against Angola at the Abuja National Stadium yesterday, said the Nigeria Premier League, NPL, is blessed with many quality players unknown to many Nigerians due to the low television coverage of local league games.
“There are so many good players in the Nigerian league. The problem is that most Nigerians don’t follow the league games on television as they follow other leagues in Europe. The low coverage of our league games has made it impossible for Nigerians to watch the players for them to know that we are good enough to fight for shirts with foreign based professionals,” Agbim said.
“Coach Keshi told us that there is room for every player to fight for a shirt and these few weeks in camp with the technical crew has given us a renewed hope that the home-based players can wear the national colours. We are ready to give a good fight to wear the Eagles jerseys. All the foreign based professionals started in the local league, so there is no difference.”
The Warri Wolves FC player also told P.M. Sports that the home-based player will continue to work hard, stressing that they will always take their chances at a time like this to tell Nigerians how good they are.
“We will continue to work hard, hoping to take our chances well when given the time like we did against Angola. You know we have been in camp all these days and we are happy that Nigerians are satisfied with our performance, although the game ended goalless.” He said.
