Ahead of the 21 January governorship poll in Adamawa, the CPC candidate, retired Brig Gen. Buba Marwa, on Thursday alleged threat to his life by one of the candidates in the race.

Marwa, however, did not name the candidate threatening his life in a statement presented at his campaign office by his running mate, who is also the Director General of Marwa Campaign Organisation, Chief John Manasa.

Marwa, who said he has taken necessary steps over the development, explained that the candidate had constituted three committees to execute the plan.

“Evil strategies of the candidate include; kidnapping, assassination, violence and creation of total confusion in the state in order to be able to manipulate the election.

“The whole gubernatorial election, it is understood, is turned into a do or die affair for this particular candidate,’’ Marwa said.

Marwa alleged that the candidate was not only targeting him alone, but other 15 prominent personalities in the state whom he listed.

While urging security agencies to take note and be proactive on the matter, Marwa warned the candidate concerned that his party would not be intimidated.

“We firmly believe that it is God that gives power to whom he chooses.

While re-iterating the party’s commitment to resist any attempt to rig the polls, Marwa said they acted within the provision of the law.

When contacted on the development, the Adamawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Altine Daniel said she was not aware if Marwa had reported the matter to the police.
