Labour Urged To Give FG Six Months To Put Things Right

An appeal has gone to organised labour to shelve the on-going industrial action and give the Federal Government six months to turn around the economy as it had promised.

The call was made recently by the Eze Udo Ndigbo of Ikeja, Eze Uche C. Dimgba, who is also the Okpotemba of Igbere in Abia State.

Dimgba, who spoke with journalists in his palace in Ikeja, Lagos, added that should the government fail to deliver the dividends of the subsidy removal on petroleum in six months, organized labour would have no choice than to shut down the country and the economy.

According to him, organised labour should sign a written agreement with the Federal Government to ensure that it does not disappoint the people since the people have lost confidence in the government.

“We should not judge this present administration with the past ones since we elected them. I am aware that the policy put in place, with the subsequent strike action, is biting hard on the people but since they have given their word that in six months, the hardship will be over, let us try them.

“I am appealing to organised labour to shelve the strike and dialogue with the government, and give them the last chance. Should they fail to deliver in the next six months, labour should not hesitate to shut down the country and the government,” Dimgba appealed.
