Nationwide Strike: National League Postpones AGM

The board of Nigeria National League, NNL has announced the postponement of its Annual General meeting and Congress earlier scheduled for 16 and 17 January in Abuja,

Announcing the postponement by a week over the weekend, chairman of the Nigeria National League , NNL board, Emeka Inyama regretted that the crisis over the removal of oil subsidy between the Federal Government and the organised labour, which has paralysed the country for the past one week, has prevented the board from concluding all necessary arrangements that would have led to a successful congress.

The chairman, however, maintained that it is the desire of the board to take the national league to a greater height, beginning with the 2011/ 2012 season.

“With the situation in the country at the moment, it becomes obvious that our planned AGM and Congress has to be shifted since we cannot afford the risk of allowing the club officials to move out of their various bases at this critical period. I want to assure that the congress will be called as soon as the environment is conducive,” Inyama said.

The chairman maintained that all the programmes for the congress, including the organisation of workshop and seminar by renowned football experts to teach club administrators how to give their clubs the best services, will still take place when a new date is announced for the congress and AGM.

Meanwhile, the executive board of the Nigeria National League, NNL, has condoled the family of the late Chief Coach of national league side, Supreme Court FC of Abuja, Alaba Yahaya, who died last week at the Garki Hospital in Abuja.

Inyama, in a condolence message to the family, noted that the coach transformed the Abuja based side through his wealth of experience, regretting that his demise came when he was highly needed by the club to lead them in the reformed national league.
