Chief Coach of Damilola Taylor, Sulaiman Ahmed, has warned his opponents, Glory FC, to forget the trophy when both teams clash in the final of U-20 Adebutu Cup slated for Sunday at the Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island.
To qualify for the final, Damilola Taylor of Ebute Metta defeated Barca FC of Isolo 3-0 while Glory FC of Ikotun defeated Alisco FC 5-3 on a penalty shootout after a barren draw at the regulation time.
Ahmed boasts that his team are fully ready to take their opponents to the cleaners.
He, however, cautioned his players not to be overconfident, saying that they should approach the game with all seriousness.
“We are coming for the final with high expectations. I am confident we will win the match because I have a formidable team who can go all out to win the trophy. Our opponents are good side but they are not good enough for the trophy,” said Ahmed who promised to defeat their opponents 2-0 in the encounter.
Ahmed advised his players to stay focused and disregard any abusive language that might be used against them by fans during the match.
He said fans can abuse players during any match but it is the duty of the players to ignore them and concentrate on their game.
“Our supporters have abused my players when they failed to convert their chances to goals in the past. We urge our fans to give the team necessary support on Sunday so that they can come out victorious,” he said.
Chairman Organising Committee, Ganiu Aliu, said arrangement has been put in place to organise a memorable cup final.
He urged fans to avoid social vices that may bring the tourney into disrepute, warning that any football fan caught for misconduct before or after the match will be punished accordingly.
Aliu expressed gratitude to the cup donor, Chief Kessington Adebutu popularly called Baba Ijebu for contributing to grassroots football development in Lagos.
He thanked members of the committee for their dedication and commitment to the competition, describing the tournament as a well organised and well coordinated football event.
Meanwhile, Chief Adebutu popularly and other important personalities are expected to grace the closing ceremony.
