Non-sensitive materials meant for the February 4 governorship polls in Adamawa have been distributed to the local government areas, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Kassim Gaidam, has announced.

Gaidam told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the materials included posters and added that INEC had also embarked on the reconstruction of some polling units affected by flood.

He, however, said that sensitive materials meant for the election had not been distributed and pointed out that the state office of the commission was not in possession of any sensitive election materials.

“To make it clear to the general public, we have not received any sensitive election materials from INEC headquarter for the conduct of the governorship election in the state.”

The REC said the explanation became necessary due to rumours in circulation that all election materials. including sensitive ones, had been distributed to the 21 local government areas of the state.

He further said that the twice rescheduled election timetable from Jan. 21 to Feb. 4 had given the commission enough time to address some pending issues.
