Amuwo Odofin Begins Rehabilitation Of 21 Roads

Amuwo Odofin Local Government is to begin the rehabilitation of 21 roads in the council from Monday with a target to complete the exercise before the end of March.

 

Chairman of the council, Ayodele Adewale said due to the rehabilitation exercise roads, such as 111 Road to 12 Road (AP Junction); all the Close from AP Junction to 32 Road Junction and 111 Road through 4th Avenue Junction would temporarily be blocked.

 

According to him, the information became necessary so that residents within the areas would move their vehicles from the roads, as no vehicle would be allowed to pass through these roads while work is in progress.

 

“Aside the rehabilitation of the 21 roads, which will take about six weeks, other minor patching will be carried out on other roads within the estate.

“Also important to mention is that the local government is employing the services of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) in the areas of enforcing environmental and traffic laws within the community,” he stated.

 

Adewale added that while KAI officers would deal with issues of indiscriminate dumping of refuse, blocking of drainages, erecting illegal shops and kiosks in median and walk ways, and other unauthorized places, among others, LASTMA would remove abandoned vehicles on the roads and streets, in line with a recent Lagos State directive.

 

Notable areas where the enforcement will be carried out include, 2nd, 4th, 5th Avenue, 23, 24, and 21 Road, 2nd, Apple Junction, Festac Link Bridge, among others.
