Fuel Scarcity Hits Kaduna

Long queues returned to most fillings in Kaduna Tuesday as biting fuel scarcity hits the state.

P.M.NEWS discovered that most of the major roads were deserted with commuters trekking to work and business places.

The queues that started building up Monday grew today as almost all the drivers of commercial vehicles and private cars were at the major filling stations within the metropolis waiting endlessly to buy petrol at the N97 pump price.

Those who could not join the long queues, resorted to patronising hawkers in the black market who sold a gallon at between N800 and N1,000.

Most disturbing to some motorists, particularly the commuter bus drivers who spoke to P.M.NEWS is that the independent marketers still sell at between N120 and N130 per litre. Thus they are left with no alternative than to abandon them and queue up at the major marketers’ filling stations where they can buy at N97 per litre .

All efforts this morning to enquire from the Kaduna Refining and Petro-Chemical Company, KRPC, about the scarcity proved abortive as it was learnt that the depot manager and some top officials were in a meeting over the matter.

But Mr Olu Ajagun , Manager of one of the Total filling stations in town disclosed that the scarcity was as a result of shortage in supply.
