Fresh Bomb Attack In Kano As Victims Get Mass Burial

Another suicide bomber went on the rampage this evening in the city of Kano, Nigeria’s north west as the rebel Islamic group, the Boko Haram stepped up its campaign of deaths.

The bomb was targeted at the divisional police office in Shaka, within the city.

The death toll is not known yet, as the bomb went off about the time that a 12 hour, dusk to dawn curfew had taken off.

“The explosives also affected some surrounding buildings. It was a big bang. For now, I can not say how many of our men are affected or whether the bomber died,” a police source told Reuters.

The fresh attack came as decomposing bodies of victims of last Friday’s multiple bomb blasts were given mass burial.

A source from Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital told P.M.NEWS that dozens of decomposing bodies at the morgue of the hospital have been taken out for burial.

“This step has to be taken to decongest the morgue and to guarantee the health of patients at the hospital since no one has come up to claim their bodies,” the source said.

According to the source, at least 40 bodies have been taken away for mass burial.

It was also learnt that the state government has provided a land at Kalebewa village along Dambatta where the bodies were buried.
Hospital authorities declined to comment on the development.
