Lagos Inaugurates Boards Of Associations
Thirty seven boards of sports associations in Lagos were inaugurated today at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Molade Okoya-Thomas at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
Speaking at the occasion, Acting Director of Sports, Lagos State Sports Council, Mrs. Grace Asagba charged the new chairmen and their board members to be up and doing and ensure that they live up to expectations in their duties.
Asagba said that all the chairmen are to ensure that the association’s secretaries, head coaches and other staff carry out their duties in order to improve sports in the state.
“I am expecting all the chairmen to give their best in their duties. I wish them all the best in their duties,” she said.
One of the newly appointed chairmen, Owolabi Martins expressed his delight for returning as chairman of the volleyball association.
He said that he would leave nothing to chance to ensure that volleyball is taken to the next level in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Sports, Enitan Oshodi performed the inauguration in the presence of the Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye, Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Raji Fashola, Babatunde Ayeni, chairman, House Committee on Sports, Lagos State House of Assembly, sports administrators, athletes and journalists.
The inauguration ceremony was going on by the time this report was filed in.
