Blue Pictures Plans Big For 2012

With the success recorded by hit movies such as The Return of Jenifa and Mirror Boy at various cinemas across Nigeria last year, Blue Pictures is planning big for great releases in 2012, Showbiz Trends learnt.

In a chat with newsmen recently, Joy Ilibeno, the CEO, Blue Pictures said last year was a wonderful year for her company, but the success expected and what they have in store for movie lovers in 2012, will be incomparable. She stated that the overall objective of her company is to project Nollywood positively and help raise the standard.

“We do not accept movies that do not take quality to heart. It is not about quantity but we place premium on quality,” the Yaba College of Technology graduate said.

Apart from The Return of Jenifa and Mirror Boy the highest selling movies of the year 2011, Blue Pictures was also responsible for some other Nollywood and Hollywood box-office hits such as Avatar, X-Men, Prince of Persia, Sex & The City, Inception, The Proposal, Unstoppable, Hangover, Harry Potter, Anchor Baby, and upcoming Unwanted Guest and Bent Arrow.

She however called for the continuous support of both government and financial institutions in the production of quality movies.

“For a producer to meet up the level of quality required at the cinema a lot of money will be involved to procure or rent the equipment needed. With their support, the producers will efficiently utilize the equipment to achieve the desired result which will reflect at the box-office,” the CEO said.
