Karate: Federation To Train Coaches, Referees

In its bid to equip its personnel, the Karate Federation of Nigeria, KFN, has concluded plans to stage a National Coaching and Referee Course which will hold between 13 and 16 March in Asaba, Delta State.

Disclosing this was the Secretary General of the Federation, Clement Iyaluegbeghe, Iyaluegbeghetold P.M.Sports that the federation would use the programme to upgrade its coaches and referees to ensure that they can rub shoulders with their counterparts on the international scene.

“The aim of the course is to get our coaches and referees in tune with the new changes and challenges in the world of karate. As an affiliated arm of the world body, we have to conform with these changes,” he said.

The scribe hinted that the federation will begin to implement the rules and regulation of the World Karate Federation in the country.

“The Federation will begin to apply these new rules in Nigeria as soon as possible. We want all our athletes to be on the same level with their counterparts all over the world regarding this new development in the karate world. The new rules takes off this month at the world level.That is why we want to upgrade our athletes in the country.”

Meanwhile, Lagos State will play host to the 2nd Armed Forces and Para-Military Karate Championships and Unarmed Combat Training.
