Another week at the ongoing Etisalat Nigerian Idol reality show has seen the emergence of the second set of finalists to the top 10. The announcement made at the Dream Studio, Ikeja, followed a compilation of votes from viewers the prevoius week.

This brings the total number of finalists for the next stage to six. The results were greeted with mixed emotions as many people in the audience had expected a different outcome from the voting process.

Even the judges could not hide their surprise as the contestants who seemed to be favoured to clinch spots in the top 10 were sent off the competition since they did not get enough votes to take them to the next level.

Elvis Daniel, Head, Youth Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, explained that the competition is currently at a stage where the fate of the contestants is determined by the viewers’ votes. He said: “Viewers have the opportunity to vote for and retain the contestants of their choice. It is not enough to sit back and admire a particular performance or talent without making the effort to keep them on the show. My advice to viewers is to vote as many times as possible so that their favourite contestants will eventually make it through and most likely win the competition.”
