‘Adopt-A-Talent ’ll Discover Stars For Lagos’
Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports And Social Development, Oshodi Enitan, says Adopt A Talent Sport Program endorsed by the Lagos State Government, will give the state the opportunity to unearth hidden talents for future sporting events in the country.
Adopt-A-Talent Sports Program is a project initaited by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Raji Fashola headed by Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye.
Enitan said at the inauguration of boards of sports associations in Lagos held recently at the Thomas Molade Okoya Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere that Adopt A Talent Sports Program is a developmental project that started two years ago and it has discovered young stars some of whom have represented Lagos State at the last National Sports Festival held in Port harcourt, Rivers State.
Enitan said the programme will create an avenue for coaches to discover good athletes that will make Lagos proud in the forthcoming National Sports Festival.
He stated that Lagos is not ready to use elite athletes for the sports festival, which the state will hold in November this year.
Acording to Enitan, the state will pick athletes from the sports talent discovery programme, school sports and other developmental sports programmes to represent Lagos at the festival.
“Adopt A Talent Sports Program is a laudable project and I must commend Prince Oladujoye for this initiative. The programme has brought a hundred of young talented athletes into the limelight,” he said.
Commenting on the preparedness of Lagos ahead of the sports festival, the former chairman of the Lagos State Table Tennis Association said Lagos is ready to host a memorable festival that will surpass the previous editions.
