Governor Amaechi Reverses Sack of Council Bosses

Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers state,South-South,Nigeria, has ordered the reinstatement, with immediate effect, the Eleven Local Government Chairmen he sacked on January 10.

In a statement signed by Mrs.Ibim Semenitari,the Commissioner for Information and Communications announced the immediate reinstatement of the local government chairmen,and ordered Acting chairmen to handover to their chairmen with immediate effect.

No reason was given for the U-turn by the Governor. It was however learnt that the affect council Chairmen contacted the hierarchy of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,royal fathers who have the ears of the Governor to intervene pleading to be of good behaviour.

The sack of the council Chairmen generated controversy and topic for talk shows on radio in the state capital and also in the print media.

The action of the Government received unfavourable comments from Public Affairs Analysts,describing the action as illegal and high-handed.
