How We Survived Robbery Attack —Sunshine Goalie
Goalkeeper of Sunshine Stars of Akure, Segun Oluwaniyi, says the grace of God saved his team from the armed robbers, who attacked them on their way to Katsina-Ala to play against Lobi Stars of Makurdi in one of the Nigeria Premier League, NPL, matches at the weekend.
The former 3SC of Ibadan goalkeeper told P.M.Sports early today that it was the grace of God that made them survive the attack from the men of the underworld, who attacked the team around Isua-Akoko in Ondo State and carted away valuables like handsets, jerseys, bags, boots and undisclosed amount of money.
Oluwaniyi said the robbers struck when the club’s bus developed a fault around Isua-Akoko.
“We were caught unawares. It was the grace of God that made us to escape without losing any life. Though we lost some valuable items to the robbers, I thank God that we are alive to recount this ugly experience,” Oluwaniyi said.
