Jobless Graduate Stabs Friend

Doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria are now battling to save the life of a young man, Ayo Fasesin after he was stabbed by his friend, Christian Imonite, for advising him to stop womanising and look for a job.

His friend who is now in prison custody not only stabbed Fasesin with a broken glass, but also used his hands to pull his intestines out from the gashly wounded he inflicted on Fasesin’s stomach to ensure that he dropped dead.

Imonite was arrested and charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for the crime.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami ordered that Imonite be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos, pending when the health status of the victim is known.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the 36- year old Imonite who studied Computer Science at University of Benin, Edo State, had been jobless since he graduated and has been living with his friend at block 155, flat 6, Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos. Claims have it that Imonite, while waiting for his friend to return from work and feed him, stayed at home to have fun with women.

The victim had repeatedly advised Imonite to change his ways, but he refused.

When the burden of keeping Imonite became too much for Fasesin, he asked his friend to look elsewhere for accommodation. This angered Imonite who went for a broken glass and stabbed Fasesin on his face and stomach and used his hands to pull out Fasesin’s intestines. The victim slumped and was rushed to, LUTH, where he is presently receiving treatment.

Imonite was charged to court for the offence contrary to Section 335 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 vol 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.

When the court learnt of the injury inflicted on the victim, it ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody without an option for bail.

The matter has been adjourned till 29 February 2012.
