School Boy Slashes Friend With Blade Over N20 Debt
There was pandemonium at Ajeromi Ifelodun Secondary School, Olodi Apapa, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, yesterday when an SS2 student used a razor to slice his classmate in the chest over N20.
The boy, Ahmed Olabuale, 14, was alleged to have cut Ifeanyi Nwachukwu in the chest with a razor, and when he started bleeding profusely, the management of the school rushed him to a nearby hospital.
The incident threw the whole student body into panic and they ran helter skelter before the situation was later brought under control.
P.M.NEW gathered that Olabuwale, who is now on the run, allegedly committed the heinous crime, because Nwachukwu had borrowed N20 from him last year and had refused to pay him back.
But instead of asking Nwachukwu for his N20, he informed the victim that the victim would now have to pay N1,000 because he refused to pay back the money on time. Nwachukwu was said to have pleaded with him to be patient as he would pay him his money, but Olabuwale did not want to hear that. He allegedly brought out a razor, slashed Nwachukwu in the chest and fled.
At Trinity Police Station, where the matter was reported, the officers said they were investigating. The police source also informed P.M.NEWS that Olabuwale was still on the run.
When P.M.NEWS visited the victim at his parents’ home at 20, Palace Road, Olodi Apapa, Lagos, our reporter was directed to a private hospital where he was admitted and receiving treatment.
The boy said that he actually borrowed N20 from the suspect and later travelled for Christmas, and had just returned five days ago.
He said when he resumed at school, Olabuwale demanded for his N20 which the victim promised to pay, including the interest he demanded. He said the next day, Olabuwale used a razor to slice him.
At the school, the principal confirmed the incident and said the management would definitely take action on the matter.
